Signature Programs

Because of the small size of our organization, NAMI Ruston currently offers NAMIWalks/Ruston annually, Tardive Dyskinesia and Sharing Hope Programs periodically. In the future, we will host Faith Net Programs.

Our future plans are also that NAMI Ruston members and friends be trained to offer NAMI Basic Classes, NAMI Family-to-Family Classes, NAMI Peer-to-Peer Classes, NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group, and NAMI Family Support Group.
​Numerous persons received the training and are now certified Mental Health First Aiders.

Other Programs

Educational

  1. Regular educational seminars, with health professionals, family members, consumers, community and state leaders, and educators serve as guest speakers.
  2. National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month celebrations.
  3. Mental Illness Awareness Week celebrations.
  4. Conferences as an outreach to Faith and Law Enforcement communities.

Family Oriented

  1. Anniversary and Mental Health Month celebrations and fellowship dinner meetings.
  2. Christmas Holiday celebrations and fellowship dinner meetings
  3. Support and advocate for consumers and their families.

Community Based

  1. Ruston Daily Leader newspaper column written by the NAMI Ruston Executive Director and other Board Members.
  2. Participation in Radio Talk Shows, sponsored by local university media outlets.
  3. Spearhead much publicity in local media outlets about mental health topics.
